Checkpoint is RNZ’s flagship multi-media drive-time programme, breaking stories and News to a growing RNZ audience.

In this role you will help create a vibrant, live on-air experience to our listeners utilising a wide range of story-telling techniques.

You’ll be a team player who thrives on the challenge of breaking and delivering news stories and interviews in a fast paced and refreshing way.

You’ll be brimming with ideas for both packages and interviews, know how to take a story forward and have experience lining up a show.

**Te Mahi - About the job**:

- The responsibilities of the role will include:_
- Initiate fresh interviews and story ideas.
- Attend daily news meetings/producer/reporter meetings brimming with ideas.
- Research, write and set-up daily news stories/interviews.
- Edit and sub news packages and scripts, including mentoring more junior members and ensuring scripts are factually and legally sound and, follow RNZ Editorial Quality guidelines.
- Planning news coverage taking into account breaking news priorities, while also continuing to build on Checkpoints great legacy of covering stories that matter to NZ.
- Contribute to the development, running and reporting of the budget process as required.
- Provide strong support and back-up to the Executive Editor and fill in as/when required.
