We are seeking a dedicated Community Safety - CCTV Camera Operator / Tiaki Hapori - He Kaiwhakahaere Pū-whakaahua CCTV to join our team at Rotorua Lakes Council. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of our community through efficient and effective CCTV monitoring services.
The position reports to the CCTV Team Leader / Inner City Safety Manager and is part of the Community & Regulatory Services group, located at the Civic Centre. You will actively monitor CCTV for safety risks, suspicious activities, and anti-social behaviour, escalating situations to partner agencies as needed. You will also collaborate with the Police, partner agencies, and local businesses to improve community safety and provide CCTV services for public events.
You will work to a 'shift' roster comprising 5 working days over a 7-day period, with shifts ranging from 07:00am to 04:00am. To be successful, you should have experience in CCTV monitoring or a related field, a clear Police record, and the ability to work rotating shifts.
You will need excellent analytical, observational, and communication skills, with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Cultural awareness, particularly when interacting with Te Arawa/Māori stakeholders, is also important.
