Regulation and Policy | Toi Hiranga branch contributes to supporting the safety, wellbeing and success of New Zealand communities, and provides advice and support to our Ministers in Government.
The Ministerial and Official Correspondence team in the Ministerial, Monitoring, and Capability Group is a vibrant and positive team working with official correspondence across multiple Ministerial portfolios. Your can-do attitude and your political acumen will be highly valued.
This role is at the heart of transparent and open government. The Senior Advisor collaborates across the Department to deliver Official Information Act requests, Ministerial replies, parliamentary questions, event briefings, and status reports. This role is also responsible for supporting the team's work flow, development and mentoring, and reporting requirements.
As well as official correspondence across multiple ministerial portfolios, the Ministerial, Monitoring, and Capability Group spans Crown entity monitoring and statutory appointments, management of the private secretaries, business support, and navigational safety on Lake Taupō.

**You will have**:

- At least one year of experience writing OIA responses and other official correspondence
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, particu'larly the Official Information Act 1982 and the Public Records Act 2005
- A sound understanding of the machinery of government and ministerial processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for accuracy, detail and quality
- A demonstrated ability to identify, articulate and mitigate risks
- Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work at all levels of an organisation
- An ability to remain calm and focused to deliver to tight timeframes when needed
- Experience in leading, project-managing and delivering process improvement initiatives
- Experience in mentoring or team development
