Full-time, six-month fixed term opportunity
- Based at our National Office in Wellington's CBD
'Kotahi anō te kaupapa, ko te oranga o te iwi' - ‘There is only one purpose to our work: the wellness and wellbeing of our people.
Ngā kawenga | About the role
Bail Support Services (BSS) is a programme of work that is establishing a new national justice sector service. BSS will be designed and implemented with the aim to provide people remanded in custody, or at risk of being remanded in custody, with greater opportunities to achieve positive change. This includes working with people on bail to address unmet social needs, identify and work towards personal aspirations, and to provide navigational support throughout their bail journey to help support them on a trajectory out of the justice system.
The BSS programme will undertake local-level service design to ensure the service meets the needs of the communities it operates within. This includes working alongside Iwi/mana whenua, kaupapa Māori social service providers, and justice sector stakeholders through the design and implementation phases. In order to be successful, the BSS programme needs to work collaboratively with justice sector partners to promote safe alternatives to remand in custody, strengthen justice and social outcomes and improve public safety.
The Senior Adviser is central in ensuring the successful implementation of the rollout of the BSS in the regions by facilitating and assisting on service design, change management and project functions while balancing the practicalities of operational needs. This is a key hands-on role, working alongside Justice Sector leaders (at regional and local levels) and their teams to prepare for and embed new ways of working. Thinking outside the box and using creativity to design a locally tailored service with consideration to bail operations, the Senior Adviser will influence and assist in the successful deployment of BSS, while shaping future operations of the Criminal justice System (alongside related justice sector initiatives such as Te Ao Mārama).
