OCG are pleased to be supporting a fast-growing New Zealand owned distribution business, as they look to bring on a commercially driven Chief Financial Officer. You’ll be supporting the business across multiple countries and locations, reporting into the Executive Director and CEO.

Essentially, you are a commercial Chief Financial Officer know for your experience in driving business performance through financial and commercial insight. First and foremost you will have **experience in the distribution sector** and an **advanced understanding of stock/inventory management**, how to manage FX, cash collections and on time supplier payments.

Take over from an interim CFO who has successfully navigated the business through a turnaround and significant change, leaving a legacy of high performance. You’ll step in to manage the performance, productivity and engagement of a team of four. You’ll benefit from the support of a particularly strong Finance Manager as an excellent number 2.

**Purpose**:

- Lead Finance team to maximise shareholder value, achieve annual budget, long range forecast and strategic goals.
- Effectively manage cashflow, FX, financial improvement initiatives and banking requirements.
- Commercial and financial leadership; opportunities are investigated, investment decisions are business-cased and all key commercial, legal and other risks are managed.
- Work directly with the CEO and Executive Director to provide early insight into and analysis and trouble-shooting of commercial risks and opportunities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead delivery of long range forecast, financial budgets and associated strategic plan + key commercial driver initiatives.
- Provide commercial and business driver analysis to the CEO and the Board.
- Identify and prioritise critical investments and ensure that these have clear business cases, are budgeted and measured for ROCI.
- Working with the CEO, present the Board strategy, market assessment, dynamics and insight, investment and business cases.
- Lead Finance team in all finance activities and KPIs.
- Design and deliver business performance management reporting framework, tracking key commercial drivers, risks and opportunities.
- Provide financial support and advice on economic implications of decisions, projects and operations, building a deeper business acumen, performance culture and improving overall performance throughout the business.
- Drive timely price increases, gross margin improvement and cost savings initiatives.
- Ensure robust risk management and business continuity systems and plans are in place and are regularly tested.

**Skills, qualifications and experience**:

- 5+ years CFO experience and 15+ years in senior finance roles, with clear evidence of strong leadership capabilities
- Experience in distribution and logistics industries and knowledge of relevant commercial drivers
- 5-10 years experience confidently presenting strategy, business plans and business and investment cases to Board level; dealing with Boards in both formal and informal settings
- CA and/or CPA qualification
- Knowledge and experience in managing banking, commercial, supplier, legal and key customer relationships
- Commercial acumen. Proven skills in leading, driving and producing business/investment cases
- Exceptional people and customer focus, successful in internal and external partnering
- Strong negotiation and consensus building skills.
