This position is full-time and requires a start at 9 pm until 4 am, and will be based in Grey Lynn. You will support the Transitional Housing Team to provide Transitional Housing services, support, and advocacy for women and whanau in the community. You must have experience working with Whanau living with homelessness, poverty, violence, or addictions or a Social Service background.

**As a Night Advocate, some of your key areas of responsibility will include**:

- Greeting clients arriving and inputting information into a national database.
- Respond to any event that may occur overnight and follow appropriate policies and procedures to support the well-being and safety of the residents
- In the case of other emergencies and/or disturbances, call the on-call manager to discuss the situation and follow the advice provided
- Ensure residing clients are located and accounted for between the hours of 10pm and 4am
- Check all external doors are locked and secured at the beginning of the shift to ensure the safety of residing clients and house items
- Write factual and timely formal records using computer-based and other information systems; providing colleagues with a handover of any overnight events

**To be successful in this role**:

- You will need to complete NCIWR Advocacy Training and any other training
- Experience working with whānau, hapū and Iwi
- Clear professional boundaries and a non-judgmental manner
- Uphold the Family Violence Act 2018 and other related statutes i.e., Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, Care of Children’s Act 2004. Privacy Act 2020
- To have an excellent analysis and understanding of family violence
- Effective communication written and verbal
- Have experience working in the community or within a social service setting supporting Māori and Pasifika whānau
- Must have a full driver's license
