Te Toka Tumai recognises the importance of our workforce reflecting the communities we serve and thus the critical nature of Māori workforce experience. Reporting into the Kaiwhakahaere Kaimahi Māori Experience, this role sits in the Kaimahi Māori Experience Team within Māori Health Provider Services. The core responsibility of this team is centred on the project leadership and contribution to initiatives that support the delivery of the Māori Strategic Approach and Pūmanawa Tāngata, the People Plan for Te Toka Tumai, particularly as it pertains to the attraction, retention and development of kaimahi Māori. This role will work alongside the Māori Engagement Specialist and communication teams.
The primary purpose of the position is to work with the Kaimahi Māori Experience Team to achieve:
- Support the organisations' strategic commitment and work alongside HR and other leadership teams to improve the recruitment, retention, and development of the Māori workforce at Te Toka Tumai
- Support the organisations' commitment to building cultural safety, dismantling racism and eliminating health inequities
- Champion the acceleration of Māori health outcomes as per Māori Strategic Approach
- Champion kaupapa Māori workforce programmes and activities
- Demonstrate the skills and capability to lead and role model effective behaviours and practice, particularly as it relates to fulfilling our Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations to Mana Whenua through the Māori Strategic Approach and Pūmanawa Tāngata
- Engage with key Māori providers, iwi and hāpu within the health and education sectors to create and embed relationships
