An exciting opportunity to be part of a regional team of experienced clinicians. Vacancies within this team don - t occur often so if you are wanting to work with a well-established team providing services to people with mental health problems and intellectual disability this role is for you. The role of the community nurse is to actively participate in the multi-disciplinary team and delver care to consumers by providing high quality nursing input (discipline specific expertise) into the assessment, treatment, and consultation/liaison services.
The ideal applicant will have extensive experience working in mental health and intellectual disability areas and a sound understanding of issues related to co-morbidities and/or working with adults with an intellectual disability whose behaviours have resulted in legal proceedings.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
RIDCAS provides a service for adults with an intellectual disability and co-existing mental illness. The team also delivers services for community forensic clients with an intellectual disability. As a consultation liaison team, our input is generally short term, providing intensive assessments, recommendations and advice for clients and their care team.
In this role you will be based with an experienced and supportive team of Clinical Psychiatrist, Psychologist and Nurses. Key features of the role include the provision of Care and Rehabilitation plans and liaison with clients and providers to provide better care for people with an intellectual disability. You will work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
We are a progressive service committed to providing a culture of ongoing professional development for staff through regular clinical supervision, excellent professional development and a recognition programme (PDRP) for nursing, regular in service training and support towards external education.
Moū - About you
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and scope to work with mental health and intellectual disability consumers
- A minimum of three years of experience working with mental health and intellectual disability consumers
- Completion of an undergraduate (leading to registration) or post graduate program in mental health or intellectual disability nursing.
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- A personal commitment to on-going learning and development including attainment/maintenance of PDRP
- Full drivers licence
