The primary purpose of the Prison Director is to ensure the professional delivery of all prison related services, delivering continuous improvement initiatives, while balancing care, security, health, education and rehabilitation imperatives for the people we manage.

This role is responsible for the leadership and safety of our kaimahi and all people we manage. It is also responsible for the optimal delivery of the day to day operational functions and always pro-actively identifying and managing risk across all facets of the operation.

The journey of a person we manage does not stop at the prison gates so a focus on ensuring they can reach their potential on release is also a key aspect of the Director's role. This will be achieved by developing strong and effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders (Community Corrections leaders, iwi and other partners) and by emphasising teamwork and co-operation between all parties.

- The commitment to develop a strong leadership team dedicated to achieving outcomes & displaying our core values
- A high level of understanding and anticipation of political and reputational risk

**COVID-19 vaccination requirements**:
All people working with people in our care are required to be fully vaccinated as part of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021. People in prison are some of the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and due to the ease of transmission, extending the Vaccination Order supports the safety and wellbeing of our staff and people in prison.
