Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.

**The Opportunity**

Te Whatu Ora MidCentral has preschool, school, adolescent and hospital dental services which can include assessment and treatment under general anaesthetic/ IV sedation.

We currently have a permanent position (36 hours per week) available for a highly motivated Dental Assistant. As a Dental Assistant you will be responsible for providing chair side/ operative assistance, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patient care and ensuring that clinics are set up and meet infection control standards.

**We are seeking**:

- New Zealand Dental Association - Certificate in Dental Assisting, or equivalent.
- Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and commitment to the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday practice.
- Commitment to ongoing personal development, professional development and service improvement.
- Commitment to providing quality customer focused service
- Ability to work within defined policies, legislative and contractual requirements
- Ability to work and contribute positively within a team
- Effective time management
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop rapport with tamariki / tangata whaiora and their whanau,
