Want to be involved in shaping your community? We are now looking for a Principal Landscape Architect to work in the Technical Services and Design Unit providing advice and support to our design team for the planning and delivery of key projects.

**About the team**:
The Landscape Architecture and Environment team provide landscape design, planning and arboricultural advice to support the delivery of Council infrastructure projects across the City and the Peninsula. Notable projects include the Whiti-reia Cathedral Square rebuild and other central City projects, the Ōtakaro Avon River redzone, and integrated water treatment facilities around the City.

**About the role**:
Using your experience and technical knowledge you will be involved in leading projects and representing the Council in landscape and environmental matters for Council projects. Your priorities include:

- Managing multiple projects with a variety of asset owners and stakeholders
- Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with clients, community leaders and other key stakeholders, both externally and internally.
- Proactively promote best practice and professional excellence and identify and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Empowering, motivating, and developing junior team members while investigating and implementing training opportunities for their professional development.
- Balancing relationships and focusing on common ground resulting in a collaborative approach

**A**bout you**:
You will have a proven track record in fostering strong working relationships, leading and developing team members, and having a big picture approach. You will also have:

- A post graduate degree or degree in Landscape Architecture.
- Registered membership with the NZ Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA).
- 12 years of relevant post-graduate landscape architecture experience, with at least 8 years' experience in a similar role in a large scale/complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in local government asset management planning, policy, and project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience with consultation and managing partnerships internally and externally.
- Demonstrated experience of achieving results through project management of complex private or public sector projects.

**Additional information**:

- Hours of work_ - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
- Location_ - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street_
