We’re on the lookout for a Test Engineer/Test Analyst to join our team in Auckland. This team creates the software for the next generation of Refrigeration appliances.

What’s this role about?

Embedded Test engineers play a crucial role in ensuring the software reliability and functionality of embedded systems. You’ll be part of the team designing and implementing testing protocols to validate the performance of embedded software and hardware, identifying and diagnosing issues to prevent potential system failures. This expertise is essential in the development lifecycle, and you will work closely with development teams to refine products and ensure they meet stringent quality standards.

In this role you will:

- Lead, design and develop automated test environments (hardware + software) for appliance testing
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to understand system design and create appropriate test cases
- Define and design automated test interfaces for embedded software and hardware components
- Develop test strategy to validate embedded system functionality, performance, and reliability
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
- Report test results to stakeholders and making recommendations for product improvements based on findings
- Develop automated and manual test cases as part of an Agile team
- Triage, reproduce, and debug issues reported by other stakeholders for our areas of responsibility
- Drive helpful conversations around technical issues and engineering practices, suggesting improvements and ideas as you see them
- Give and receive feedback to grow yourself and the team
- Participate in code reviews.

Our process & technologies

At Fisher & Paykel Appliances:

- Software is developed using Agile processes
- Functionality is implemented in C, Python, C# and Qt
- The development platforms used are Bare Metal, Linux and Android
- Atlassian tools are used for source control, issue management and planning
- Azure Dev Ops are used for test case management and continuous integration

Your qualifications and experience

For this role, we require:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related degree.
- 5+ years relevant working experience.
