**_The role/Te mahi_**

As Deputy Warden of University Flats (Uni Fats), you will join a team looking after the largest and most diverse collegiate community on Campus.

Working in a supportive and dynamic environment, you will have the opportunity to make a real and positive impact on the lives of University of Otago residents.

Supporting and working alongside the Warden in leading the University Flats community, key tasks of this role also include:

- Assisting with the selection, rooming, safety and support of University Flats residents or other occupants.
- Assisting with the selection, rooming, training and support of up to 120 Kiwi Hosts.
- Supporting the property team throughout the year with flat and room inspections, end of year planning and implementation.
- Liaising with the property team and Warden to ensure a high level of maintenance.

You will be someone who thrives in a busy role and excels in providing pastoral care and support to students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
- Be professionally and personally resilient and capable of handling (sometimes) difficult and complex situations.
- Have well developed organisational skills and initiative.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Show a commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive community.
- Have experience working with young adults and people from varied and diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Have experience in pastoral care and/or community development.

**_About our team/Mō te tīma_**

The team at University Flats manage 183 flats that house approximately 753 students in their 2nd - 4th year of university, including postgraduate and international students, from around Aotearoa and the world.

Living in a flat with a local student and other international students is an enriching experience. Most undergraduate flats have a New Zealand student living there too, called Kiwi Hosts. They are familiar with life at the University of Otago as a student, and can help overseas students settle in.
