We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

We are part of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Molecular HPV testing area is part of the cytology department at APS and has a high workload that covers qualitative and quantitative detection and genotyping on self collected vaginal swabs and Liquid based Cytology clinician collected samples for the detection of high risk human papailloma virus.

This is a full time position Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work weekends dependent on workload.

The Auckland DHB Anatomic Pathology Service (APS) provides community referred histology, non-gynaecological cytology, HPV testing and cervical cytology (ThinPrep®) services for the greater Auckland region. Testing not performed at our laboratory in Mt Wellington is sent to the Auckland reference laboratory, LabPlus, Auckland City Hospital.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

- Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- Experience in Molecular Biology or Molecualr Genetics
- Knowledge, experience, and understanding of Molecular Diagnostics methodologies
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and time management with a focus on quality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
