Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Bring your specialist and expert advice to support the translation of Government policy direction, Waka Kotahi transport sector strategy, and regional transport plans into deliverable transport programmes.You will have an exciting opportunity shape a new function within Waka Kotahi. We are developing long term investment opportunities that connects strategy planning into deliverable transport programmes and packages. This work will require you to help with the development of an investment plan and other associated collateral. You will provide guidance on how to achieve the best returns for New Zealand while ensuring the long-term performance of the transport system. It is a unique opportunity that will allow you to showcase your skills developed across a wide range of experience in strategic transport planning and policy. Ko koe tēnei | About you You will have a robust understanding on business case development and the infrastructure funding process, honed through your extensive policy and strategy experience You will also have a keen understanding of strategic planning and investment frameworks, and in addition, to be successful in this role, you will bring:

- An understanding of the New Zealand transport system and its policy, strategic investment planning, spatial planning, and regulatory framework
- An understanding of the planning and funding framework of local and central government and the related investment decision-making processes
- Critical thinking abilities to generate insights from a variety of policy and data sources
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical performance data into insights and findings to be consumed by non-technical audiences
- Flexibility, adaptability with the ability to deal with ambiguity
- Experience with working at senior levels and other government agencies.
