We are seeking a highly skilled National Technical Security Advisor to provide expert guidance on the design, implementation, and management of technical security systems. This role ensures the safety of our people, properties, and operations across the country while maintaining compliance with ministry standards.

In this role, you will:

- design and implement integrated security systems to protect people and property
- provide technical advice on security systems & technology including CCTV, access control systems, duress alarms, and screening equipment
- develop long-term security investment plans and manage associated budgets
- collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement and other government agencies
- lead security-related projects, ensuring alignment with Ministry priorities and operational goals
- maintain and update security design standards and policy documents
- provide training and guidance to staff on the effective use of security systems.

**Ō** pūkenga/Skills and Experience**

To be successful in the role you will have:

- a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in security systems
- senior-level experience in law enforcement, military, or a similar security-focused role highly regarded
- expertise in integrated security technologies (e.g., CCTV, alarms, access control)
- applied knowledge of relevant legislation including Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Building Act 2004, Court Security Act 1999 and the Radiation Safety Act 2016
- proven project management skills and budget management experience, with a relevant qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or AgilePM desirable
- ability to influence diverse stakeholders and lead operational change effectively
- full New Zealand driver's license and eligibility for a Secret-level security clearance
- available to commit to national travel on a regular basis
- an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns in particular Tikanga Maori.

**Utu ā-tau/**Salary**

The appointing salary for this role will be between $128,129 and $179,192 based on skills and experience.
