Working out of our Nelson, New Zealand location, the successful incumbent will be a key member of an established Software Engineering team designing and implementing embedded tracking devices utilising Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and our proprietary BLE mesh network. You will work closely with hardware engineers to develop robust products primarily used in the airline industry and parcel tracking. Your work will encompass the complete embedded software development lifecycle.
Applicants for this position should have NZ Residency or a valid NZ work permit.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Your responsibilities are situated in the following domains:

- Be a key member of the Software Engineering Development team designing and implementing embedded tracking devices.
- Provide innovative communication solutions utilising Bluetooth Low Energy.
- Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software.
- Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
- Integrate and validate new product designs.
- Support software QA and optimise performance.
- Provide post-production support.
- Interface with hardware design and development.
- Assess third party and open-source software.
- Work with cross product, cross functional teams in a cutting-edge technical environment constantly pushing the envelope.
- Technical ownership for your functional areas and understanding of Customer requirements and how they can be turned into solutions.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Proven working experience in software engineering.
- Solid programming experience in C or C++, and.Net C#.
- Proven experience in embedded systems design with pre-emptive, multitasking real-time operating systems.
- Technical proficiency in the following: Python,.
- Self-motivated, passionate, innovative, and strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Commitment to good “clean code” development practices, including source control, bug tracking, object-oriented design, and developer-driven testing.
- Fit into an entrepreneurial culture that is a fast-paced and pro-active environment.
- Strong focus on Quality, Reliability, Sustainability, Scalability.
- Excellent verbal and written documentation skills.
- University degree in Computer Science/Mathematics/Engineering.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
