Connected Communities has an opportunity for a Specialist Advisor to work on the community focussed work programme lines across the five Southern Local Boards.

As a Specialist Advisor, you will be dedicated to creating a Tāmaki Makaurau where all community members feel valued and can fully participate in what their local community has to offer. You will support local boards, colleagues, and communities with your community development expertise, political acumen, and strong presentation skills to deliver positive outcomes. You will work in ways that honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and partnership with Māori, and also with the numerous Pasifika communities across the South.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

- Advising decision makers, resource holders and those working for positive community outcomes
- Partnering and leading on initiatives that promote equity and address emerging and often complex social challenges
- Community capacity building
- Leadership development
- Facilitation and project management
- Investment and partnering

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
This role requires strong experience in community development roles, ideally in South Auckland, with developed networks in the targeted population groups’ communities. You need to have experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika people to achieve positive community outcomes.

We will be looking for specific experience with:

- Community development, engagement, wellbeing or similar experience of promoting the participation and wellbeing of our targeted population
- Forming lasting and collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Managing projects and collaborating across diverse communities
- Facilitation and presentation skills
- Recording data to create insights and learnings to inform the development of project and funding decisions

You will need to have a high level of flexibility and the ability to attend community events or meetings outside of traditional working hours. A driver’s license is required, or other applicable way of traveling across the region.

This role is a full time, permanent role.
