**The Role**:
The objective of the **Senior Fibre Technician** is to carry out direction from the **Connections Supervisor** to ensure works are completed as per the design/scope/contract. You will be based in our New Plymouth Branch but may be required to work in multiple locations. Minimum guaranteed hours of work - 40 per week.

**Tasks include**:

- Install Fibre optic, Category 6 Structured Cable Distribution Systems using aerial and underground installation methods.
- Performs site surveys. Assesses and documents current site network configuration and user requirements.
- Prepares engineering plans for UFB (Ultra-Fast Broadband) Network design and site installation technical design packages.
- Provides coordination in the design, analysis, and installation process.
- Programming ONT (Optical Network Terminal).
- Installation of outlets, pulling cable and per-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labelling cables to industry standards.
- Installs, maintains/repairs, and tests residential/business telecommunication service, including on premise and network.
- Connects wires and cables to terminals and attaches/detaches various kinds of hardware to wires, cables and buildings.
- Accurately test fibre (single mode) cable to required certification.
- Pole climbing and surveying for fibre installation tasks.
- Scoping and installation of telecommunications duct (underground or overhead/aerial) as required.
- Use of all installation equipment and hand tools.
- Pothole by hand or using machines for existing services.
- Installation of fibre optic cable from distribution point to premise.
- Basic reinstatement of earthworks.
- Provide on the job training to junior fibre technicians and fibre technicians
- Undertake installation documentation as required and support other teams to complete documentation.
- Undertake any other tasks to support the overall Civtec business as required from time to time.
- Works primarily outdoors at external sites which may be at any location in Taranaki, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Central North Island and Auckland regions, on public and/or private property at numerous sites.
- Minimum 3 years’ Experience in the telecommunications industry including new installations and remedial work including LAN/WAN or have a relevant qualification at NZQF level 4 or above.
- Relevant working at heights certifications.
- Proven experience as network technician or relevant position.
- Strong communication, coaching and leadership skills.
- A Full Driver's License is required

Pay rate on offer is between $29.66 - $33.00 per hour
