**He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role**
We are recruiting a Senior Medical Officer to work within the acute medical service based in the Admission and Planning Unit at Tauranga Hospital. This 0.4FTE role will comprise a minimum of 1 day per week (0.2FTE) in acute medicine with responsibility for leading assessment and management of acute presentations and GP referrals to the medical service.
This also includes supporting the management of acute medical presentations to the Emergency Department. The remaining 0.2FTE will be available for participation in subspeciality interests.
Tauranga Hospital is a 359-bed hospital which provides acute general medical service with support from resident specialists in Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatric medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Haematology and Renal services.
There is the opportunity to participate on the acute medical on call roster and the role will have responsibility for supporting a junior medical team in the APU which includes a registrar and house officer. There are teaching opportunities across undergraduate (years 4-6) and postgraduate (basic and advanced trainees) medicine.
