**The role**:
As caretakers of the expansive region mentioned above, Horizons Regional Council offers you a diverse and challenging environment to put your asset management skills to good use. We have an opportunity for a motivated and committed Asset Condition Inspection Officer to join our River Management Team within the Catchment Operations Group at Horizons. Based at Kairanga near Palmerston North, reporting to the Assets and Environmental Team Leader, you’ll join a close-knit team responsible for inspecting flood protection and drainage assets in our region. You’ll play an important part in protecting our communities from flooding and enabling them to thrive.

As an Asset Condition Inspection Officer you’ll work closely with our Area Engineers and their teams, inspecting and recording the condition of our assets. You’ll develop working relationships with iwi/Māori, public or private sector agencies, and our ratepayers - particularly those in rural areas. This is a full-time, permanent position.

**About you**:
We want the right person to join our team. Ideally, you will be someone with an infrastructure background and a passion to work outside, who is capable of writing technical reports, inputting data into our Asset Management Information System and updating our GIS. We work across a large area, so a current full New Zealand driver’s license is essential. A qualification in Infrastructure Asset Management, Civil Engineering, or progress towards one is desirable. However, we are also looking for someone with a proven ability to find practical solutions to problems. A working knowledge of Health and Safety, experience in contract supervision, and outstanding communication skills would help you stand out above the crowd.
