**The opportunity**

At Northpower, people are the heart of our success. As a talented and capable Engineering Advisor with an in-depth background in connecting non-conventional power generators into small, medium and large electrical grids, you will role model success in several technical and people functions:

- Technical and Operational Support Services: Provide support to the wider network team on renewable generation connection-related issues. Engage consultants for detailed network connection studies and collaborate on determining the most appropriate connection options and requirements.
- Risk Management: Undertake effective project risk management, develop treatments and controls, and ensure compliance with the risk management framework. Develop asset contingency plans for critical assets and address emerging risks.
- Network Standards: Assist in the development and update of standards and standard designs. Review technical and maintenance standards, provide feedback on draft industry standards, and support the document control process.
- Performance Delivery: Ensure operational, regulatory, and customer requirements are met or exceeded. Set and achieve performance targets and goals while effectively implementing problem-solving solutions.
- People Leadership and Relationships: Exemplify Northpower's behaviours and enhance the company's brand and reputation through positive interactions with customers. Provide continuous performance feedback to team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

**Who we’re looking for**

To be considered for this role you will naturally be a people leader and possess strong interpersonal skills, as well as:

- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, a similar qualification, or extensive industry experience
- A demonstrated track record of providing technical advice with regards to non-conventional power generation connection to a national power grid
- Strong understanding of key equipment arrangements and installation methods to aid in realistic option selections
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical issues clearly to non-experts
- Knowledge and experience in managing contractual arrangements within the contracting environment
- Commitment to delivering timely, reliable, and expert advice to internal and external customers
- Willingness to challenge existing practices and programs to drive improvements
- Competency in safety and environmental management, including auditing, root cause analysis, and risk management
- Experience in technical writing and standards development
- Demonstrable commitment to safety leadership
