Programme Facilitator - Tai Aroha Special Treatment Unit (Hamilton)
Permanent full-time position
This is a unique and rare opportunity for a Programme Facilitator to work in a world class community-based Special Treatment Unit (STU) that focuses on violence prevention and other general offending. The unit provides intensive treatment for convicted males on Home Detention sentences who are motivated to a life free of violence and reintegrate in a positive way with their community and families.
The position is based at the Tai Aroha STU in Hamilton and has a strong Tikanga Maori focus. The programme aims to provide a culturally responsive rehabilitative and reintegrative experience, in particular for Māori participants. However, the programme is not exclusively for Māori. The unit offers therapy and reintegration support for the residents. For Programme Facilitators, this is a great opportunity to develop your cognitive-behavioural group treatment skills, work within a psychology team, and make a positive impact.
What is a Programme Facilitator responsible for delivering?
As a Programme Facilitator you will be working closely with psychologists, co-facilitating an intensive cognitive-behavioural group treatment programme within a ‘community of change' environment. The programme is designed to help participants understand why they have committed their offences, develop meaningful life goals, practice new thinking, practice behavioural and emotional management skills, develop safety plans, and build prosocial family and community links.
In addition to facilitating group treatment, you will contribute to suitability assessments and report writing, be involved in treatment interventions that run alongside the main treatment programme, complete administrative tasks, liaise with other prison and community agencies, undertake training, and engage in professional development for yourself and with your team.

**We are seeking someone who**:

- Is an effective listener and communicator and who has the ability to build strong positive relationships with participants and other stakeholders.
- Is used to working cooperatively in a team environment.
- Ideally has experience in delivering and facilitating therapeutic interventions, either individual or, ideally, group therapy.
- Has life experience that means you can work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and ethnic groups.
- Is comfortable having their practice viewed and receptive in receiving and utilising regular feedback on their practice.
- Has experience with report writing and exceptional communication skills.

Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen, New Zealand Resident Permit holder, Australian citizen or an Australian resident who holds a current Australian Resident Return Visa.
Applicants must also hold a full NZ driver licence.
