Mō te tūnga | About the role
As a NZDF Regional Mental Health Specialist you will use your clinical experience and evidence-based knowledge to:

- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care and comprehensive support for mental health and well-being.
- Conduct crisis assessments and implement proven risk management strategies.
- Deliver brief interventions such as CBT, SFBT or MBCT.
- Collaborate with military managers to provide psychoeducation and advice on mental health matters.
- Provide case management.
- Use clinical and professional leadership to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a new role to the team and operates on a regional basis covering all NZDF camps/bases within the Auckland region (Whenuapai, Devonport and Papakura). Due to the nature of this role, workload can be managed remotely allowing for regular travel between each of these sites.

Along with at least five years' experience working within mental health services, ideally at a senior level, you will need the following:

- Extensive knowledge of mental health, co-existing problems and treatment interventions.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Community based and/or early intervention experience.
- Able to manage multiple complex cases and workload pressures.
- Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Confident, pro-active communication skills across a diverse range of people.
- A relevant qualification and current practising certificate/certification.
