**Our Opportunity**:
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career. You will be joining Mercury's Wholesale Markets team, where you'll assist the Portfolio Manager in optimising our electricity and gas portfolio settings. This intermediate level role is integral to maximizing the profitability of Mercury's energy portfolios, providing business and competitor intelligence, evaluating generation development options, and supporting decision-making processes to enhance efficiency across the wider Portfolio business.

You will support the Portfolio Manager in the following key areas:

- Providing insight, advice and execution of Mercury's electricity portfolio settings
- Managing the day-to-day operations of Mercury's wholesale gas position
- Valuing OTC electricity derivative transactions
- Maintaining a company view of key assumptions driving the economics of Mercury's generation development options and potential emerging technologies
- Access market intelligence to form a view on competitors' operations, prospects and strategies to enable sound company strategic decision making

**We are looking for**:

- Tertiary qualification, preferably with Finance, Engineering or Operations Research majors
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar commercial role
- An ability to construct computer models with a detailed understanding of financial valuation principles
- The ability to provide strategic and commercial direction to the company
- The ability to analyse a broad range of diverse internal and external factors, and to provide sound, informative information in line with the strategic and commercial direction of the company
