Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This role sits within our SouthPAN programme of work which is one of our most diverse and interesting projects. SouthPAN (Southern Positioning Augmentation Network) will improve the accuracy and reliability of satellite-based positioning systems in New Zealand and Australia. If you have an interest in space-based projects then this is one of the most appealing projects to be on.
You will be in a Wellington based team of technical and passionate people with backgrounds in engineering, aviation, satellite navigation and positioning, so a very interesting bunch of people.
The joint project team includes people from Geoscience Australia, who you will be working with daily. The team also multiple stakeholders and contractors located in Australia, US, Spain, and the UK. This means that some flexibility may be required to collaborate across different time zones, and there may be occasional travel to Australia and beyond.
This position's purpose is to contribute to this technical team by:

- Bringing aviation safety or GNSS technology expertise and technical knowledge to the project,
- Undertake complex research in navigation satellite system technology,
- Conducting technical assurance, compliance assessment, and oversight of design and implementation activities for SouthPAN,
- Verifying the quality of SouthPAN services to support end-user uptake of the system,
- Developing engineering processes and ensuring project quality objectives are met through audits and verification activities,
- Developing support and test equipment to enable integration, testing, acceptance, and certification audits.

He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience of systems engineering, systems theory, and systems life cycle management
- Experience as an engineer working on aviation, navigation or satellite projects
- Service infrastructure projects, ideally in a public sector setting,
- Experience with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), SBAS, digital signals processing, telecommunications or satellite communications technology would be beneficial
- Have actively worked with diverse stakeholders both internal and externally,
- Being able to perform and breakdown technical engineering processes and communicate effectively,
- Collaboration with team on varied perspectives to navigate the appropriate way forward (you see what we did there),
- Qualification in relevant field,

**The annual salary range for this role is**: $124,000 - $143,000 dependant of skills and experience.
