**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
The Senior Advisor to the Kaihautu Māori (Director Mātauranga Māori) will have the title Kaihāpai Māori and their role will be to enable the effective and efficient delivery of the Kaihautu Māori work programme and ensure coordination across various projects.
Kaihāpai Māori will provide specialist trusted advice to Kaihautu Māori and will often be required to develop and coordinate communications to inform the MBIE Senior Leadership Team about relevant work across the organisation
This is a great opportunity where you will work with a small and tight knit team, working enterprise wide, with the variety of MBIE’s 19 regulatory systems and portfolio across Aotearoa.
The Mātauranga team is primarily to advise the Chief Executive on matters relating to Māori in MBIE’s vast responsibilities. We are also responsible for better connecting and embedding mātauranga (knowledge and practice) into MBIE’s systems to advance Māori, and grow Aotearoa for all. This team is fast paced and has responsibility across the enterprise.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- Knowledge and experience of te ao Māori and te ao Māori practices; tikanga, te reo and a comprehensive understanding of the Treaty, Te Tiriti and the Treaty Principles.
- Good knowledge of the aspiration of tāngata whenua and MBIE’s work to Partner with Māori and the capability to work across MBIE and the business groups to achieve the outcomes.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.
- An ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with a wide range of people at all levels, both internal and external to MBIE.
- Demonstrated ability to influence while developing trust and credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to think and act strategically; can identify and assess potential outcomes anticipate consequences, correctly frame risk, and recommend a way forward.
- Must have legal right to live and work in Aotearoa NZ.
