**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**

As a Data Analytics Engineer at the University of Canterbury (UC) you are pivotal in optimizing and enhancing our data layer to enable advanced data solutions, analytics, visualizations, and self-service capabilities across the university. You will be focused on achieving high levels of accuracy and automation, while a crucial aspect of your time involves modelling data from source systems, external data files, and services into the data warehouse to ensure consistency in naming, rules, semantics, and security while meeting the needs of data consumers.

Your activities will encompass the full development lifecycle, including analysis, design, build, refinement, test, and rollout of analytics solutions that are reliable and maintainable, supporting an engaging, consistent, and swift experience for our staff and students:

- Data Analytics Products Development - Interpreting and understanding detailed requirements to design required data products
- Data Modelling / Integration - Modelling and integrating new data into the Data Warehouse from various databases, files, and services
- Implementation of Data Analytics Architecture - Building and implementing a modern data analytics architecture appropriate for current and future data needs of the university
- Data Governance - Implement best practice Data Governance in partnership with the Head of Data and Analytics.

**Mōu | Who You Are**

You are an experienced Data Analytics Engineer with at least 7 years' experience in IT or related areas, with at least 5 years' experience in business analytics platforms (data warehouse / data lake). You will also have:

- Previous use of Snowflake for data warehousing and DBT for transformations
- Standard reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI and cloud environments
- Good understanding of data analytics techniques and an in-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Demonstrated experience with:

- programming Languages like: SQL | NoSQL, Python, R, JavaScript, Scala, Julia
- designing and delivering On-prem and Cloud analytical solutions
- data discovery and data structures
- Knowledge of Frameworks such as: AWS, AZURE, Dimensional Data Modelling, Star Schemas, Data Marts and Data Vaults.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and promote collaboration and mahi ngātahi.
