Enable the delivery of all Grid works, supporting electrification of our economy
- Drive continuous improvement and make fast paced operational decisions
- Varied, impactful and challenging work towards a net carbon zero future
**Senior leadership role managing Grid risks and service though providing organisational leadership, including our core Service Providers**
Transpower is a key enabler of New Zealand's decarbonisation journey. Our transmission network (the national grid) includes over 12,000km of transmission lines, 25,000 transmission towers and 170 substations - assets that are worth more than $5 billion and provide direct benefits to our people and businesses across the motu.
We have a significant pipeline of new connections to the Grid as new renewable generation is developed and electrification of the industrial and transport sectors accelerates. This will continue to build as we move towards a decarbonised future, with the interim goal of enabling 50% of New Zealand's energy needs from renewable sources by 2035.
**About the team**
Our Grid Delivery division is accountable for the delivery of work across New Zealand's transmission network. This includes project and maintenance work, delivered in conjunction with our service provider organisations. Transpower delivers approximately $300M capex and $100M in opex per annum.
The Regional Services teams in the Grid Delivery Division are collectively responsible for maximising the effectiveness of, and minimising disruption to, the transmission system. They do this by ensuring grid reliability and availability through the efficient and effective execution of Transpower's maintenance contracts, projects, and planning so that Transpower achieves the best efficiencies from its Stations and Lines assets and property.
**About the position**
Opportunities to join Transpower in key leadership roles are rare. As our Regional Services Manager - UNI, you'll be based in our Ōtara Auckland office but work across our business as a member of the Grid Delivery Senior Leadership Team.
You'll provide visible leadership for an experienced team of nine, including Service Delivery Managers (site custodians) and office support staff, to ensure safety and system reliability in the Upper North Island. You'll quickly develop a deep understanding of all connected customers' needs, service definitions, and contractual arrangements - with a focus on increasing value and improving service timeliness and quality.
You'll enjoy a huge amount of variety and be comfortable to pivot when plans need to change Our Regional Service Managers and the broader team are super supportive and work closely together to ensure consistency and sharing of knowledge. They are also the "go to" group regarding our Service Providers and enjoy getting out on site and working with service provider management, and customers.
You'll have responsibility for performance of all Grid assets north of the Taupo region, including delivery of all maintenance activity through our service providers. You'll also be the 24/7 escalation path for any significant issues related to the region, with backup resources available to share any usually infrequent, out of hours responsibilities.
You'll maintain the deep sense of ownership and accountability of service delivery outcomes and build on the service delivery strategy and monitor its progress. You'll ensure that information on delivery costs, time, quality, and safety is provided to internal stakeholders and drive consistency in service delivery against agreed controls and processes. You'll represent work delivery and service provider needs within Transpower, advocating and influencing broadly to achieve outcomes that improve delivery of services.
Key to the success of this role is proactive leadership and management of Service Provider and Customer relationships, the Auckland regional office, and identification and management of safety service delivery risks. **About you**
You have well-developed written and verbal communication and the EQ and resilience to adapt your style from the board room to service provider offices, and back again. You'll be able to maintain and further develop safety culture and demonstrate a growth mindset and change agility.
**Your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate**:
- Experience as an influential operational leader with substantial budget responsibility in a fast paced operationally critical environment
- Proven ability to think, work and influence systemically (with and without positional power), and reduce risk while driving better delivery outcomes for the short, medium and long term
- Great examples of collaboration under pressure while making decisions on the best available information at the time
- Astute relationship management expertise. You will have examples of balancing and building understanding inter
