As of 27th January 2023, Downer Energy are thrilled to announce that we are one of the two delivery partners who have won the WEL contract. WEL is an electricity distribution business connecting over 95,000 households and businesses in the Waikato region through maintaining the network of power lines, poles and underground cables and technology

**We have at least THREE that are for Line Mechanics. Of those three vacancies, one of those will be a Team Leader - so you are wanting a team lead role, please search for our Team Mechanic Team Leader position.**

These are fulltime, permanent roles paying between $35.00 - $45.00 p/h based on experience. Overtime and allowances will be available when required. A tool of trade vehicle is supplied during work hours only when required. All tools required for the role are also supplied.

The depot for the WEL Contract is based in Morrinsville, Waikato.

**Nga pukenga matua | Important Skills**

It is essential that you are an experienced Line Mechanic with knowledge of the power industry and can offer:

- Relevant Line Mechanic or Electrical Registration and current Practising License.
- NZQA Level 4 or equivalent
- A minimum of two years’ experience including high voltage and overhead work
- Current Class 1 full Drivers Licence, ability to drive a manual vehicle and ideally a Heavy Traffic Licence
- A strong commitment to safety including sound knowledge of the Safety Manual Electricity Industry (SMEI) and Safe Practices for Low Voltage Electrical Work
