**About the Roles**
We have looking for two talented lawyers to join our high performing and collaborative team:

**Senior Corporate Counsel
- 12 months Fixed Term**: Covering maternity leave, this is a 12 month fixed term role for an exceptional lawyer to experience the Co-op and work independently on a variety of matters across the Co-operative. Reporting into the General Counsel, Group Functions, you will provide legal support and direction to major business projects and initiatives, manage litigation and regulatory issues, and proactively manage risk. Additionally, you will maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the business and provide advice and direction on day-to-day legal issues.

**Corporate Counsel
- Permanent**: Replacing our intermediate lawyer who is leaving to travel and work overseas, this is a fantastic opportunity for a rising star to join an experienced in-house legal team on a permanent basis. Reporting into the General Counsel, Operations Strategy and Innovation, this role supports across the team on a range of key business projects and initiatives both in New Zealand and internationally, managing regulatory issues, risk, as well as day-to-day legal issues. You will build and maintain relationships with a range of key stakeholders and have the ability to work both independently and alongside some of our more senior lawyers.

Two days are never the same in these roles, as you will actively contribute to delivering our Co-operative strategy and be responsible for a varied portfolio with a range of areas to cover - a great way to expand your knowledge.

In each role, you will be part of a collaborative, highly experienced, award-winning team who are passionate about their work and have a great work-life balance.

**About you**
We are looking for an accomplished professional who has experience across complex commercial and business law.

You have a strong service ethic and the ability to manage risk holistically while driving business results and solutions. You also have strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build partnerships across the wider business and externally. Your focus on accountability, ownership and your ability to act independently will see you excel in this role.
Your key attributes (having regard to your PQE) will be:

- Strong law firm and/or in-house experience, working with major companies and complex organisations
- Highly developed commercial judgement and business acumen
- The ability to innovate and operate with agility in an environment with a high degree of ambiguity and complexity
- High integrity with the courage to challenge when things don't seem right
- Law degree and a current practising certificate.
