If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Senior Palliative Care Specialist on the stunning West Coast of New Zealand.

Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, leads the day-to-day running of our health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

Our Palliative Care team are dedicated to delivering exceptional care and support to patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to providing holistic, patient-centered care that focuses on relieving suffering and improving quality of life. We are looking an SMO that will provide support to the West Coast, in a 12 months, fixed term, Part Time capacity (0.3 FTE).

**Responsibilities**:
Collaborate with the local palliative care nurses and the wider, multidisciplinary team (including primary providers and hospital clinicians) to develop and implement individualised care plans. Offer support and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment options, symptom management, and end-of-life care decisions. Assist with developing and running educational initiatives for healthcare professionals and community outreach programs to raise both skills and awareness in palliative care.
Contribute to quality improvement projects, research activities to advance palliative care provision on the West Coast and ensure sustainability of service into the future.

**Requirements**:

- Specialist qualification in Palliative Medicine.
- Current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
