Auckland City, New Zealand Fisher & Paykel Appliances Full time

The Role

Here at Fisher & Paykel Appliances, we design with people in mind and the lives lived around our products. We aim to create moments of delight together in the heart of the home, sustainably enhancing the quality of people's lives, now and for future generations. This purpose is the very heart of why we exist, it's our reason for being here.

We are driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous, and curious. As a team, we take a collaborative approach and have a working environment where all ideas are heard, evaluated, and tested against our leading goal - to be the world's most human centered appliance brand.

What this role is about

We have an opportunity for an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our small specialist team in Auckland within the Product Development business unit. Our last hardware engineer started as a grad and stayed 8 years. Do you think you could fill those shoes?

Supporting the development of new Refrigeration platforms, you'll be responsible for specifying, designing, prototyping and testing electronic controls, including analogue, digital and power circuits. Collaborating with a wide range of teams and experts across both our Dunedin and Auckland sites and also F&P sites worldwide, you plan and execute electronics hardware projects, interfacing with external suppliers to optimise design for manufacture and part/project cost. Taking ownership of designs through the entire design cycle and contributing to a continuous process improvement will also be key elements of the role.

What we’re looking for

If you have a passion for electronics, love challenging yourself with complex technical problems and working in a stimulating, collaborative, and diverse work environment this could be the place for you to bring your skills and expertise. To succeed you will be an experienced and credible Electronics Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems. You should demonstrate the following key technical skills & attributes:

- Strong and effective project management
- Experience in developing electronics-based solutions
- Mixed digital/analogue circuit design
- Design for high volume manufacture
- Design for EMC
- Prototyping and testing.

You'll need a degree in BE (Electronics) or equivalent technically based degree qualification and ideally around 5+ years’ experience developing electronics-based solutions.

We encourage and value curiosity and want to see you bring innovation and practicality with an emphasis on outstanding results. Good planning is an important aspect of your consistent track record of on-time, on-budget work delivery that meets or exceeds requirements. Our people thrive in a hands-on environment where they can own the results of their input.

What we offer

You’ll be part of a team-based culture that offers benefits such as ongoing training and development opportunities, a challenging and supportive work environment, leading technology, work/life balance, free parking, competitive remuneration, superannuation scheme and buying privileges. We’re doing great work in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and support our people to be the best they can be.
