Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing Districts in New Zealand and the third largest, by population, in the South Island. The Waimakariri District Council are looking for a new Biodiversity Team Leader with the ability to work effectively across a wide range of issues and enable a customer-focused environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled people leader with a background in biodiversity, community engagement, public space planning and strategy implementation to join a progressive and customer-focused Council.

We currently have some exciting projects underway within the implementation of the Natural Environment Strategy as well as our ongoing program of works across Greenspace and the wider Community and Recreation Group. The successful applicant will be a motivated individual to work with internal and external stakeholders.

In this technical leadership role you will offer high quality expertise across projects and programs of work for our environmental and natural parks network. As well as input into the growth strategy for the District, lead by example through the delivery of a customer-focused service, and manage key stakeholder relationships.

To be successful in this position you will need to have a solutions focused attitude with the ability to work with various stakeholders with conflicting interests. An understanding of biodiversity, managing engagement processes, strategy development and program management would also be an advantage.
