Jade Software has a new opportunity in Christchurch for an Intermediate Systems Software Engineer, supporting, developing, and maintaining our unique product, Jade Platform.

**ABOUT THE ROLE
The role includes system design, development, maintenance, testing and customer support. The Jade Platform has its own language, compiler, object-oriented database, IDE and runtime. This team is one of very few in the country where you can work on such things professionally.

Most of our customers are long-standing and have built their core business on top of our product. As such, we have built close working relationships with them.

We host Jade Platform User Groups (JUGs) yearly where we get to mingle with our customers, show off the work we’ve doing and learn about the cool new stuff they’re accomplishing with Jade Platform.

Key responsibilities include:

- Actively contributing to product development, testing & customer support.
- Raise product faults and escalate in accordance with team procedures.
- Reproduce customer problems to determine cause and assisting team members with subsequent testing of any fixes.
- Design, implement, and test solutions to client queries, problems, and new requirements.
- Actively contribute to the development and maintenance of testing frameworks that support the Jade Platform.
- Actively be involved in planning, process reviews and design meetings, including the opportunity to contribute at user conferences.

**ABOUT YOU
What you will bring to Jade:
You should want to immerse yourself in a complex engineering role, supporting and developing a unique product. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with good analytical and problem-solving skills and a passion for technology and software. You must be organised, have attention to detail and an ability to self-manage and work within a close-knit team.

It is essential that you have:

- Experience with C++ from a systems programming point of view alongside experience in.Net and C#
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a software development role

Some nice to haves but not essential:

- A relevant IT tertiary qualification
- Previous experience in Object Orientated Database development
- Experience maintaining systems through monitoring and correcting software defects
- Knowledge of agile software development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)

A ‘Lifetime of learning’ approach is super important:

- The team has some of the most experienced and skilled system software engineers in the country - you will learn from the best (30+ years exp)
