Mussel Farming

**Description**:
Havelock Farming Support Services (FSS) supports a busy and growing mussel farming operational division of Sanford.

**We have several opportunities available for Yard Operators on either**:

- Day shift 06:00-18:00 (4 days on/4 days off shift pattern)
- Night shift 18:00 to 06:00 (4 nights on/4 nights off shift pattern)

This is full time permanent position. You will carry out and train employees in all yard operation tasks to support the mussel farming division. You will be confident with operating machinery and providing guidance to other team members and help to ensure production runs smoothly for each shift.

This position will be best suited to someone who doesnt mind hard work and long shift patterns, willing to go the extra mile, flexible and adaptable to change.This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to progress into vessel work in the future to support our mussel harvesting operations.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Ensure all machinery, tools and equipment is operated in a safe manner and in good, clean working order
- Loading and unloading while keeping the wharf clean
- Check machine maintenance requirements and carry out regular maintenance alongside the Marine and Farming Support Services Engineering team
- Perform duties that include all aspects of land-based production for goods and services for operational and the wider aquaculture industry requirements
- Assist administration and supervisors as needed while maintaining Environmental / Health and Safety compliance requirements
- Delivery of vessel orders correctly and on time
- A large amount of the work is you must be weather resistant
- It is very important to be fit, healthy, and energetic as well as a team player due to the nature of the position
- Assist with any duties in the designated area as assigned by the Supervisor

**Ideally you will have**:

- Forklift, Class 2 and Class 4 truck licenses and experience in truck driving operating machinery
- Hands on experience in the Aquaculture and Mussel industry is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, a great attitude with a willingness to learn
- Have good mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail, safety, and reliability
- Have a flexible approach to ensure the job gets done right the first time and to ensure quality
- Be motivated with a hunger to learn new skills, challenge yourself and progress your career. Ability to move into vessel work
- Have the ability to work independently, whilst working towards achieving team goals
