Transpower has a dual role as New Zealand's owner and system operator of the National Grid. As the transmission network asset owner, we keep the energy flowing - transporting high voltage electricity from where it is generated to cities, towns, and some major industrial users nationwide.

Our transmission network includes over 12,000 km of transmission lines, 25,000 transmission towers and 170 substations. As System Operator, we operate the electricity market and power system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We currently employ over 900 people nationwide and are growing, with an extended Service Providers whānau of over 1,000 who are responsible for the delivery of construction, maintenance, and fault response on the National Grid.

**About the team**

Our Health and Safety Team support Transpower's Executive Leadership Team, managers, employees, and our service providers to ensure work is undertaken safely. The team leads the development of effective health and safety policies, systems, and programmes to generate positive health and safety outcomes to provide a safe workplace for our employees, our service providers, and the public who encounter our work and assets.

As a key member in our centralised but geographically diverse health and safety team you will engage with a broad range of people from executives to field workers. You will play a pivotal role as the health and safety assurance expert, providing assurance to Transpower on the status of the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) to inform continuous improvement of the system.

You'll enjoy a dynamic role and varied work including:

- Defining the annual health and safety assurance programme.
- Undertaking health and safety assurance audits on our work and the work undertaken by our service providers and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Undertaking and/or facilitating internal Health and Safety Management System audits to align with AS/NZS 45001:2018.
- Supporting the programme of critical risk assessments with Health and Safety Practitioners and respective assurance reporting.
- Delivering quality assurance information and reporting, together with identifying improvements and trends.

**What will you bring?**

You will hold a Level 6 Diploma or higher in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, and lead investigator in a recognised investigation methodology e.g. ICAM or TapRoot.

Highly organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills you'll be able to tailor your style to the audience and engage and influence a multitude of different audiences.

**To be shortlisted your career to date, cover letter, and resume will demonstrate**:

- Experience in the design, build, and maintenance of health and safety management systems to AS/NZS 45001:2018 or similar.
- Experience in undertaking assurance of health and safety management systems and/or critical risk programmes.
- Ability to produce high-quality evidence-based reports providing insights, identifying trends, and improvement initiatives.
- High level of understanding of New Zealand's health and safety legislation.
- A current NZ drivers' licence.
