Downer is an industry leader in water, providing water services to a quarter of New Zealanders. We support our customers across the full asset lifecycle from the conceptual development of a project through design, construction, commissioning and whole-of-life support and optimisation.

As part of Downer’s Water Services & Projects team, we have a National Engineering Services team.
- **Assistant Engineer**: Tertiary qualified engineer with 0 - 5 years’ experience.
- **Engineer**: Tertiary qualified engineer with 5 - 10 years’ experience.

The purpose of this Assistant Engineer/Engineer position is to plan, review and safely undertake duties within your immediate functional area. Your day-to-day activities (as guided by the designated project lead) will be to assist with a range of activities depending on your experience including, but not limited to the following:

- Identification and definition of the scope of the problem, investigation and analysis of relevant information using quantitative and qualitative techniques, undertaking site investigations, testing analysis for correctness
- Identification of alternative options, evaluation of options and selection of solutions based on best match with agreed criteria. Development of concepts, preliminary and detailed solutions
- Review operational asset performance and maintenance practices against good practice and make recommendations for improvement
- Preparing technical documentation e.g., proposals, engineering reports, management plans
- Participating in workshops and forums e.g., risk workshops, HAZOP studies, Safety in Design workshops. Consultation with stakeholders and liaison with affected third parties
- Application of quality assurance measures.

- Tertiary qualification in engineering or technical discipline, with 1 - 10 years proven experience.
- Knowledge and experience in at least one or more of the functional areas (water networks, drainage networks, treatment plants, projects, mechanical) including relevant legislation, standards, and technical specifications relating to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of three water infrastructure.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment.
- Driver’s License; Class 1 minimum.
