**The Company**:
Based in Mt Wellington my client is a leading manufacturer of colour and additive concentrates for the plastics industry of New Zealand. They have been in business in New Zealand for over 50 years and provide a high performing, stable and very friendly company culture.

**The Opportunity**:
Their long-term Production / Operations Manager has recently relocated overseas, staying with the company, so they are currently looking to fill his shoes. This role will assume responsibility for the day-to-day manufacturing operation and will act as 2IC to the Country Manager.

This is a very hands-on role, and it would appeal to someone who has experience, leading a team, across the functions of manufacturing, production, logistics and health and safety and who is keen to drive efficiency and focus on plant reliability, productivity, quality and cost effectiveness.

**The role in more detail**:

- Provide hands-on leadership to the production team, ensuring best practice, performance and teamwork.
- To ensure DIFOT at or above agreed targets
- Ensure high standards of Health and Safety are maintained.
- Ensure supply chain function operates smoothly.
- Build relationships and manage 3PL partner.
- Maintain a well-trained, skilled and engaged and happy workforce.
- Manages any pressures and priorities.
- Ensure the manufacturing is within budget & at optimum cost per kilo produced.
- Ensure effective Quality Systems are in place, understood and practiced.
- Manage procurement strategy and performance.
- Overall management of the raw materials and consumables stock levels
- Acts quickly to remedy any non
- compliance in a timely manner.
- Preparation of budgets, reports and forecasts
- Prepares capital expenditure plans, factoring in repairs, commissioning and new machinery.
- Maintains an effective industrial relations environment and compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- Creates a positive, enthusiastic workforce who take ownership.

**You**
- A thorough understanding of the disciplines associated with a production / manufacturing operation
- A collaborative, upbeat, positive, people manager, with genuine leadership skills.
- Hands onhappy to jump on a machine and join the team, if required. (It’s a real team)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Focused on driving efficiencies to enhance performance and productivity.
- A strategic & analytical thinker, with strong financial & business acumen
- A hard working and committed person, who values work / life balance. It is a reality in this role
- Looking for a long-term role. Not seeking to climb the corporate ladder.
- Must come from a manufacturing environment. ( Min 7+ years)
- Preferably from a plastics related industry.
- At least 5+ years in a similar Production/ Operations leadership position.
- Legally able to work in NZ with at least 5 years of NZ manufacturing experience.
