Calling all experienced Team/People Leaders

Every day the NCSC's people leaders work to protect New Zealanders and their interests. They form a critical part of the wider NCSC team defending national security, raising cyber resilience and facilitating digital transformation.

The NCSC's mission brings together people with a broad range of skills and backgrounds. As a leader, you'll help our people grow and work together collaboratively, in a way that reflects our unique working environment. You will also be part of a broader community, with a need to connect NCSC up with our domestic and international partners on important initiatives.

The NCSC has recently established a new branch, focusing on the resilience of nationally significant organisations. We have a wide ranging role, from defining best practice and standards, through to measuring their adoption and understanding gaps that require improvement, to advising on system changes and investment in cyber security for the public sector.

To support growth in the branch, we are looking for a range of team leaders to support new and existing teams. Although each team is different, all Team Leaders in the NCSC have a balance of skills across:

- People: Ensuring we get the best out of our people, as well as providing for team members well-being and development.
- Delivery: The teams' work is delivered and meets the expectation of our stakeholders.
- Strategy: Helping shape our work and direction in a way that reflects our role and the world around us.
- System: Work with stakeholders across government and industry to ensure our mission is conducted efficiently and effectively.
- Partnership and Assistance

The Team Lead Partnership and Assistance is responsible for delivery of services designed to measure and uplift the cyber resilience of Nationally Significant Organisations (NSOs). The Team Lead will manage a group of Cyber Security Advisors who specialise in facilitating the exchange of security information and supporting qualitative self-assessment of cyber security practices.

The Team Lead plays an important role supporting the strategic alignment and integration of these services. The team lead is responsible for ensuring these services are delivered consistently, to a high standard and remain relevant for both internal and external stakeholders.

Strengths in people leadership and building high performing teams will be beneficial for this role, as will a good knowledge of the NCSC's stakeholders and their needs.
- Resilience Analysis and Reporting

The Team Lead Resilience Analysis and Reporting is responsible for the delivery of outputs supporting the understanding and uplift of nationally significant organisations cyber resilience. The Team Lead manages a combination of technical specialists and analysts, who support organisations to understand and improve their own cyber resilience, as well as inform other stakeholders of trends in cyber resilience.

The Team Lead plays an important role supporting the team's delivery, embedding processes and undertaking service design that delivers value for stakeholders. The Team Lead is responsible for leading engagement internally and across the system to make resilience insights available to customers.

People leadership and stakeholder engagement skills are critical. Previous experience in the delivery of reporting and analysis will be beneficial.
- Policy and Systems

The Team Lead manages a combination of policy analysts and specialist technical experts focussed on driving meaningful changes to improve cyber security across Nationally Significant Organisations, through influencing system policy and investment. This includes responsibility for leading support to the Government's Chief Information Security Officer, the Director General of the GCSB.

The Team Lead plays a critical role in leading engagement with other System Leads in data and digital (Government Chief Data Steward, and Government Chief Digital Officer). The role is also responsible for leading engagement internally and across the system to make sure policy and investment advice reflects the unique information available to the NCSC.

Previous experience in managing and leading a policy team is expected. You will have strong people leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with the unit manager including good forward planning and tracking.
- Standards and Research

The Team Lead manages a mix of specialist technical experts and research and information expertise. The team is responsible for the New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) and other associated technical guidance, templates and processes.

The Team Lead plays an important role supporting the team's delivery, embedding processes and ensuring relevant research is undertaken and deployed to the right places.
