Masterton West Kindergarten is located on the west side of Masterton, only a few minutes from central Masterton. The kindergarten serves both an urban and rural community. The teaching team are welcoming of, and responsive to the diversity that this brings to the learning community, they are committed to having strong relationships with the community, through partnership.

The kindergarten is well resourced and has a large outdoor area with extensive gardens, children are actively involved in growing, harvesting, and cooking produce from the gardens. The kindergarten has strong connections with the local schools, supporting transition to school according to the needs of the whānau.

Masterton West Kindergarten is a full year kindergarten licensed for 42 children who attend for 6 hours each day. You will lead a team of 4 other teachers in this fulltime role.

This is a fixed term role to cover leave at this Kindergarten which will commence on the 8th July 2024 for 12 months.

We are looking for an experienced ECE teacher who:

- demonstrates a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and uses this to effectively grow their Te Tiriti-based practice across the curriculum.
- uses effective strategies for, and has a strong commitment to, building learning-focussed partnerships with whānau, the teaching team, support staff and other professionals.
- has an in-depth understanding of noticing, recognising and responding to children’s learning, and uses their understanding to support the team in implementing curriculum.
- effectively supports an environment where the diversity and uniqueness of all children are accepted and valued, and which meets the needs of children’s culture, language, and identity.
- demonstrate their knowledge of research and pedagogy relating to learning within a sociocultural framework.
