Auckland City, New Zealand Technical Recruitment Solutions Full time

**Senior Controls & Electrical Engineer (Auckland or CHCH)**
- **Salary + Away & Meal Allowances + Life Insurance + 3% Kiwisaver**:

- **OEM Machinery - Custom Projects + Product Development + Upgrades**:

- **Automation: PLC, HMI, SCADA, Servo + VSD’s, Robots, Machine Vision**:

- **Future Team Lead role as potential career development**

A well-known global OEM with multiple locations in NZ and Australia is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to come in and lead their current team which currently consists of one other Controls Engineer and one other Electrical Engineer.

**Career Growth**: In time there is the potential for this role to have a promotion into a Team Lead role too, still retaining a technical lead and say in how products are developed but leading the engineers too. The estimate for this team to grow to is 3 to 4 people for now, likely with a graduate being hired in time.

You will be joining a company with good culture, a variety of work, and where you can grow within the business.

Location Note: This role is located in **Auckland** but if you are interested in moving to **Christchurch** there is another very similar role with the company down there too, so either way if this sounds like you get in touch.

We are looking for three key skillsets here but two are nice to have’s.

**1 Essential - you are a Senior Controls Engineer** and can capably work on PLC, HMI, SCADA, VSD & Servo drives applied to motion control of machinery.

The company use **Rockwell/Allen Bradley** as their main controls provider but if you have experience with other control systems brands do still apply.

**Ladder Logic** is the main PLC Programming language here and you will need to be able to write code from scratch and develop a new PLC program from the ground up.

**Robots & Machine Vision**: There are also robot & cobots (Omron & ABB) plus machine vision elements too but there are other people in the company that can handle this area if this is not in your skillset.

2 Nice to have - Electrical Design using **EPLAN** and **Safety Design** e.g., being able specify the correct safety components like Safety PLC’s.

You will also fit the role well if you understand the different machinery and electrical design standards for other markets e.g., NZ, Australia, US, Canada, Europe.

3 Nice to have - EWRB Electrician registration.
Again, if you don’t have this still apply, one of the company’s electricians would be sent on a machinery installation too if you are hired and don’t have this. We know that having all three of these skillsets is hard to find.

Hours
This is a permanent 40 per week Monday to Friday role. There is not much overtime required unless you want to do it or when doing installations.

Travel for Installation and Commissioning
Trip Lengths are usually 2 to 3 weeks, and the maximum likely is 4 weeks. The trip frequency is usually 1 to 2 trips per year. You could travel to Australia, Canada, USA, and Europe - see the world on the job

Typical Day: Working with their standard products (5 big sellers), doing machine upgrades. They also have one fully automated system too. You will do custom project work, this is a mix of integrating their products into customer sites and doing some more customised solutions for clients. There is about 7 months ahead where there will be a strong focus on project work.

Customer Support

The Company want to do more** Productisation and Continuous Improvement** but they will always be involved in doing product innovation, so engineering will continue to be a part of what you do here.
