**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, collaborative expert nurse as a second charge nurse to join our Inpatient Team to support our service growth and expansion of a further 18 beds, from the current 52 beds to 70 by mid-year.

Working in the Inpatient Ward, reporting to the Patient Services Manager, the Charge Nurse is responsible for leading a team of nurses towards professional development and promoting quality patient outcomes in a challenging clinical environment. We are looking for an experienced charge nurse with proven leadership experience in a hospital setting within surgical services. You will have excellent communication skills and be a driver of quality improvement initiatives with the focus on patient safety and excellence in delivery of care. To be successful in this role:

- Advanced clinical practice knowledge, with demonstrated leadership skills and experience working in a fast-paced setting
- Commitment to providing excellent care
- Strong accountability for resource and budget management
- Current NZ Nursing Council Registration and an annual practicing certificate
- A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Demonstrated expertise in setting standards and managing practice to achieve these
- Strong interpersonal skills and solution focused.
- You will be known for your clear and professional communication skills and your ability to remain calm and collected in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
- Ability to provide coaching and confidently manage performance
- Ideally, you will have completed or be working towards a post‑graduate qualification.
