To help us on our journey and help shape our future we are seeking a Safety Lead to support the Maintenance & Project Delivery Teams (Construction).

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

A key role, reporting to the Head of Safety Operations the Safety Lead - Maintenance & Project Delivery Teams (Construction) will be responsible for delivering comprehensive, reliable, and best practice safety, health and wellbeing advice, support, and coaching to internal customers whilst we transition through a safety improvement period. This role will also collaborate closely with the wider safety team in order to put into place initiatives, programmes, systems, and procedures that support organisational and safety goals.

The role involves evaluating safety hazards and working with the organization to create and implement practical and sustainable safety risk management strategies along with providing specialised and technical advice and recommending workable solutions to operational safety, health, and wellness issues. Providing guidance to AT's contractor partners while they work on infrastructure and other projects, as well as monitoring safe work practices.

As a trusted advisor you will require a high degree of technical expertise as well as courageous leadership, gift-wrapped with exceptional influencing and communication skills.

This is an exciting role which is future focused and can shape the future safety within Tāmaki Makaurau by driving improvement programmes across the eco-system.

To be successful in this role you will need
- A Bachelor's degree within a relevant discipline is preferred but not essential
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in a specialist role providing design, development and advice on safety programmes, safety technical advice and initiatives
- Prior experience in Safety in construction sector
- Specialist expertise in Safety disciplines e.g. Safe System, Health & Safety, Critical Risk
- Knowledge of current theory and best practice models in Safety, change management and behaviour change
- Project management and facilitation skills are preferred
- The ability to understand business issues and demonstrate a solutions focus
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of AS/NZS4801 and AS/NZS14001
