Production Technician and Lead

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Oversee and execute production processes to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Monitor production output and adjust workflows as needed to optimize efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular quality control checks to maintain product quality.
- Coordinate with production team members to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime. Perform or audit routine maintenance or Basic Equipment Care (BEC) and repairs on production equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance team for resolution.
- Operate machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures.
- Supervise and mentor production technicians and operators to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to promote teamwork and productivity.
- Assist in conducting performance review and management.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify quality specifications are met.
- Document quality control findings and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Train team members on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
- Encourage a safety-first culture among all production staff.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and streamline workflows.
- Facilitate ongoing learning and development opportunities for new and existing team members.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to pet food manufacturing.
- Encourage continuous improvement and innovation in production processes.
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned either individually or as part of a committee or team.
- From time to time, you may be directed to realign your efforts with the changing needs of the business.

**Job Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in food science, engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in pet food production is advantageous.
- Strong experience with extrusion technology
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively with all members of the team from various backgrounds
- Excellent organizational skills and profound ability to schedule multiple activities and resources for efficient and effective utilization.
