Job Description

Seafeild Dairy is a well resourced partially irrigated 500 ha dairy farm on the coast less than 10 mins out of Wanganui. The farm is on sand country but is backed up by 240 ha of irrigation and a further 240 ha runoff 20 mins away the role is for a motivated person to be work in as part of a strong team supporting the manager The role will assist with animals, milking and feeding with support from the owners and manager. The successful applicant will have some experience in dairying and the associate on farm work. The position reports to the manager. The 1200 cows produce close to 460000 milksolids in a winter milk scenario Access to Whanganui, great schools and a great community are a major plus for the location for people to develop their other interests. This would be a shared accommodation situation with one other in a four bedroom well maintained house. Hourly & Remuneration Avg Hrs / Wk

5 The farm is flat to rolling with a mix of different sand country soils from heavy to light but all are productive the lightest soils have been planted in pine trees the farm grows maize and turnips and feeds concentrate in shed to maximise productive potential the farm would be a system 3 to 4 operation heifers are grazed at the runoff and a proportion of the cows are winter grazed there also the 60 bale rotary is 8 years old and has auto drafting the farm supplies Open Country the bulk of the calves are reared by calf rearers and do not form part of this role There are 280 ha irrigated with center pivots which take alot of risk out the summer
