Avanti Finance Group is seeking a Head of Collections to lead our end‑to‑end collections strategy and operations across a diverse portfolio.
This senior leadership role is pivotal in balancing commercial outcomes with customer‑centric practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in collections effectiveness and experience.
As a key member of the Risk and Operations leadership team, you’ll shape strategy, build high‑performing teams, and deliver operational excellence from early intervention through to legal recovery.
What You’ll Do
Develop and execute strategies aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
Drive arrears reduction, loss mitigation, and recovery targets.
Design and maintain operating models, policies, and workflows.
Champion automation and digitisation initiatives.
Uphold CCCFA, Privacy Act, Harassment Act, and industry codes.
Embed frameworks for hardship and vulnerable customers.
Build capability, drive engagement, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus.
Collaborate with Risk, Operations, Technology, Product and Finance to deliver integrated strategies and insights.
About You
10+ years in financial services collections, credit risk, or operations, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
Deep understanding of NZ collections legislation and hardship frameworks.
Ability to balance recovery outcomes with customer treatment and cost efficiency.
Track record of building engaged, high‑performing teams and influencing at executive level.
Skilled in collections systems, workflow platforms, analytics tools, and driving automation.
