As Civil Department Manager you will be directly responsible for the overall operating performance of the department.
This role offers diversity, challenge, the ability to make your mark and grow the department.
You will have a strong focus on people leadership and development, managing key stakeholder relationships, and have operational and financial accountability.
You will also drive a strong safety culture and strive for the continuous improvement of your department and operations.
You will: Overseeing pricing of work and preparation of tenders, quotes and estimates Be aware of and oversee contractual procedures for managing changes to scope of work for direct work and sub-contractor agreements Ensure reports, claims and programmes are prepared and submitted correctly and in a timely manner Ensure forward planning, organising and ordering of contract subbies, materials, plant people Ensure your department staff are provided with leadership and guidance to maximise performance Ensure the delivery of all work to required standards and contractual agreements Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and other key stakeholders Good Work equals Good Benefits Company vehicle provided in this position Medical insurance for you and your whānau Life insurance from day one Kiwi Saver employer contributions after service milestones up to 7% Fuel discount card Parental leave top-up payment with additional return to work support Family scholarships Ongoing training and development, career growth and progression opportunities Great discounts at a wide range of retailers At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us.
We’re looking for someone with: 5 years relevant experience within civil construction and road construction Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering Current class 1 full drivers licence Leadership and people management experience with a strong focus on mentoring and development Understanding of job pricing including labour, plant and materials and associated margin / profit calculations Operational management – planning, resource allocation and coordination Financial management of budgets, cost-benefit analysis, reconciliation, reporting Have a solid understanding of civil construction methods, systems and techniques Time management skills and ability to prioritise to meet numerous and demanding deadlines Advanced computer literacy, keyboard and file management skills Creating, Connecting and caring for the community Our people regularly donate their time to local causes and initiatives, while at a regional and national level we provide financial support, skills, and resources to a wide range of organisations that are strengthening our communities.
