Do you have some knowledge of Japanese food?We are looking for outgoing, friendly person who is capable of looking after our Sushi/Bento Department to make sure that we are able to provide St. Pierre's Experience ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn order to deliver our service, products and company values to our customers, all associates(employees) are expected to understand and undertake the following tasks and responsibilitiesduring the course of your employment in your current role. Customer Service: At St Pierre’s we pride ourselves on exemplary customer service. You will be required to uphold our principles and values when dealing with customers at all times. Training and guidance will be given to all employees. Food Preparation: You will be required to learn and participate in the preparation and presentation of food to a high standard. Please follow the manager’s instructions closely. This will most likely involve use of machinery, and knife handling. Maintenance: You will be required to maintain equipment and facility in the premise to be ready for use before starting cooking and report to senior kitchen staff if you find them in a poor state. Cooking: You will be involved in all stages of cooking, including cooking all types of ingredients (e.g. vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood) in a prescribed manner and handling cooking equipment and tools under the supervision of senior cooking staff. Food Safety Program / Food Control Program: It is your duty to help keep the shop kitchen (food preparation areas, utensils, dishes, tools), shop front, dining area, bathrooms, exterior, and any other surrounding areas, in clean and hygienic conditions. Follow your manager’s instructions, and cleaning schedules and procedures. You may be required by MPI (Ministry of Primarily Industry) tounderstand essential food handling procedures prior to commencing work in your workplace. Promotion: You will undertake to help the business to promote its goods and services by giving samples, vouchers, suggestive selling or other promotions organized. Teamwork & Training: You will be required to involve yourself and work as a team, under the guidance of your management. This will also include helping ‘buddy’ train new employees, or other staff as required. You will be required to attend and contribute to any necessary staff meetings when required. Incoming goods: You may be required to receive and check incoming goods from the company’s suppliers. In all situations, you will act professional and courteous. Stock Monitoring: It is your duty to assist senior kitchen staff in maintaining a proper stock level. You will be required to check the quality and quantity of ingredients and report to senior staff if the stock is running out. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIESCONSTANT IMPROVEMENT: In all areas of your job, it is important you do your best on a daily basis, and strive to improve the quality of workmanship and productivity. This will be important in your Performance Review. NOTE: CHANGES TO THE DESCRIPTION: As with any progressing business, from time to time the descriptions may need to be amended to keep up with industry standards, and the changing business environment. You agree to such amendments as deemed reasonable and necessary by the company. This is a permanent full-time position. (over 30 hours per week) however your hours and days of work may vary, so applicants must be reasonably flexible with time. A good salary or wages will be offered to the successful applicant, and reviews as work skills improve with great other benefits. Qualifications and Experience Requirements More than six months of verifiable relevant work experience or NZQF Level 1 or higher, such as the Australian Food Handling Certificate (AQF Level 1) or micro-credentials related to the food businees, such as the New Zealand Food Safety cetiticate to carry out the assigned tasks; Good command of English to carry out the above duties; Personal hygiene is essential ; Puncuatlity, hospitality and deligent work ethic are highly valued ; The successful applicants will have an outgoing personality, some knowledge of Japanese food, be well presented and enjoy being kept busy in our quick service Japanese restaurant/takeout store. Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
