Primary purpose: To identify, remove, pack, transport, or dispose of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel, transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil. Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials is essential. May be required to operate earth-moving equipment or trucks when necessary, a valid licence will be required. Tasks and duties: · Undertake direct instruction from supervisor and complete any tasks that may be assigned to you in a timely manner. Such tasks include (but not limited to): o Loading and unloading vehicles with equipment, hazardous waste o Stock takes of equipment o Thoroughly cleaning vehicles, yard and client site o Ensure site is set up correctly with barriers and signs o Pre-inspection of site o Ensure neighbours have been alerted to the removal of asbestos on site o Remove asbestos or lead from surfaces, using hand or power tools such as scrapers, vacuums or low-pressure sprayers o Prepare hazardous waste for removal or storage o Prepare hazardous waste for processing or disposal o Assemble temporary equipment or structures o Build containment areas prior to beginning decontamination work o Identify asbestos, lead or other hazardous materials to be removed o Inspect work sites to identify potential environmental or safety hazards o Comply with prescribed safety procedures, regulations and laws regulating waste disposal methods o Sort hazardous waste at landfills or disposal centres, following proper disposal procedures o Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks o Identify or separate waste products or materials for recycling or reuse. o Remove or limit contamination following emergencies involving hazardous substances o Clean contaminated equipment or areas for re-use using detergents, solvents, filter pumps or cleaners o Decontaminate equipment or sites to remove hazardous or toxic substances o Weatherproof roofing membranes or other exposed areas of clients housing. o Adhere to AMR Team LTD Health & Safety Handbook and policies at all times o Adhere to all Asbestos Regulations & Legislations at all times o Ensure prescribed PPE is maintained and not worn out and serviced when required. o When required by Supervisor fill out all paperwork required onsite for the job o Ensure pre-vehicle inspections are done on a regular basis – at least every 2 weeks o Ensure the health and safety of yourself and other workers around you Key Performance indicators: · Tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner · Asbestos legislation rules are adhered to · Decontamination and cleaning of client sites are completed to the upmost thorough standard and in a timely manner · Client satisfaction with service · Timelines are met Key working relationships: Internal: · Supervisor · Owner and director · AMR Team employees External: · Clients · Third party providers such as Independent Assessors, Other contractors whom may follow after full asbestos removal is completed Qualifications: · Class A asbestos removal work – Remove Friable Asbestos – NZQA unit standard 29766 · Class B asbestos removal work – Remove Non-Friable Asbestos – NZQA unit standard 29765 · Full Class Licence (Restricted is sufficient, however a training plan to work through to Full Licence will be required) · · Site Safe Passport/Construct Safe
